Te Kāhui o Taranaki Trust is the mandated governance entity of Taranaki Iwi.  We are committed to the vision of our uri of Me Tōngai Harakeke—weaving together, resilience, versatility, and intergenerational success. Our iwi stands strong in our connection to whenua, whakapapa, and whānau, ensuring that our people thrive culturally, environmentally, socially, and economically. With approximately 25 kaimahi and an asset value of over $130m we are well positioned to achieve significant impact in the years ahead.

About this role

As Chief Executive, you will lead the operational and strategic implementation of Te Kāhui o Taranaki Trust, working closely with the Board, hapū, marae/pā, whānau and stakeholders to deliver on whānau aspirations. You will be responsible for:

  • Driving strategic initiatives that enhance iwi development and well-being.
  • Strengthening relationships with hapū, marae/pā, whānau, government agencies, and key partners.
  • Ensuring financial sustainability and effective resource management.
  • Championing Taranakitanga and embedding tikanga Māori in all aspects of leadership.
  • Leading a high-performing team to deliver impactful programs and services.

About you

You will be an uri of Taranaki Iwi, confident in your own cultural identity and ready to make a real difference. In addition, you will bring:

  • Executive leadership experience, ideally having reported to boards.
  • A track record as a skilled people leader and manager, creating high performing teams.
  • Execution and delivery skills, being well organised and able to help mature our systems and processes.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, with a track record of managing budgets and driving sustainable growth.
  • A commitment to Taranaki Iwi flourishing and intergenerational success.
