Deputy Chief Executive Performance and Implementation

  • Data, Insights, Performance and Systems focus
  • Newly created role, Wellington based
  • Catalyst for system improvement

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

This new role and function represents a strategic decision to enhance and strengthen our client’s capabilities in data management, performance measurement and systems implementation.  This function is critically important given the pace of change they are facing, with a growing reliance on systems and data and increasing demands.

The Performance and Implementation group is tasked with shining a light on performance within the increasingly complex public service landscape and providing independent advice to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).  This is also a pivotal step in ensuring that all ELT members are aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives and organisational goals.

Leading a team of approximately 12, the group will lead planning and performance monitoring, enabling resources to be allocated more effectively, and fostering unity across the organisation. Consolidating data analysis, insights, methodology development, professional practice and system implementation processes into a central hub, will yield significant benefits for the organisation and the communities we serve.

Ko wai koe| About you

You will have senior level experience (ideally at GM or DCE level) with specific experience in insights, data and performance monitoring.  Strategic acumen, political savvy and the confidence to be an ‘assertive engager’ with diverse stakeholders are critical skills.  Experience in education or a similar sector would be highly advantageous, as will experience working closely with Ministers.  A commitment to values of equity and excellence, and your ability to inspire these values in others is essential.

There is a strong preference for this role to be Wellington based but other locations may be considered for the right candidate.
