Ko Wai Au – Who we are
Te Arawa Management Limited (TAML) is the asset holding arm of Te Arawa Lakes Trust (TALT). We are responsible for the iwi’s vision to strengthen and grow our $150 million (approx.) commercial portfolio while at the same time being highly committed in seeing positive outcomes socially, economically and culturally. Our investments include Maketū Pies, as well as wholesale nurseries, geothermal, kiwifruit and avocado orchards, dairy, property and managed funds.
We work very closely with TALT to ensure that they are comfortable with our investments from a cultural and environmental perspective. We also provide a number of shared back-office services to them.
We are currently looking for one or possibly two Independent Directors to join us.
Te Āhua o Te Tūranga – The nature of the position
As a Director you will have input into the vision and long-term goals of TAML, whilst at the same time giving guidance on strategy, commercial performance, risk, dividends and new ventures. Supporting and overseeing the performance of our Chief Executive and ensuring a strong connection with our parent trust is also a key focus. The Board meet in person every second month, with shorter online meetings in the alternate months.
Candidates will demonstrate strong governance experience, along with a proven track record in either finance or business. Particular expertise in our key sectors would be an advantage, as would experience on the Boards of entities with asset bases in the $100-300 million space. While whakapapa Māori is not essential, a strong affinity for, and ideally, experience working within te ao Māori is important.
