Mō mātou | About Us

Ember Innovations, part of Ember Korowai Takitini, supports entrepreneurial initiatives that boost the wellbeing of people in Aotearoa.  Our aspiration is to ensure that by 2030, every person in Aotearoa has the wellbeing support they need.  This requires an ecosystem of entrepreneurs, start-ups and private sector players that can complement our public services to dramatically expand the choice, affordability, accessibility and diversity of support available.

We are an influential advocate for mental health, addictions and wellbeing innovation.  Our aim is to build an ecosystem to tackle challenges through co-design and collective action, where innovators and enterprises have access to capability development and learning opportunities to improve the quality and impact of interventions and are connected in an active network around our Kaupapa.

We are networked with wellbeing start-ups across Aotearoa and have a deep understanding of their pain points on their journeys to validating and growing their high impact ventures.  We’re steadfastly focused on opportunities to expand their impact across Aotearoa.  Our role is to support, connect, challenge and advocate.

Ko wai koe | About you

We are now seeking a visionary leader for the next phase of our journey to ensure our future sustainability. Supported by our current funding for programme delivery and established innovation grants, you will help diversify our revenue via social enterprise ventures, collaborative projects, corporate sponsorships, philanthropic bodies and grant funding.

You will bring insightful experience from either entrepreneurial or start-up entities, innovative commercial or social impact organisations. Working with and supporting amazing innovators you’ll continue to advocate for system change across the sector.

We are on an intentional journey in Te Ao Māori to influence and change how we engage in our work to ensure authenticity in establishing a strong Kaupapa.  Your genuine intent to embrace Te Ao Māori frameworks and their foundational impact on our work will be key.

The skills and attributes you bring to the role are more important than the organisation you’ve come from – we are seeking an authentic leader, a connector, a communicator.  Someone who can create genuine and deep relationships, who will bring in new funding and who will lead a team to deliver on our strategy.  We need to really shift the needle on mental health, addiction and intellectual disability outcomes.  As such, you’ll have the mana, energy and aspiration to take an adaptive and transformational approach to social entrepreneurship and innovation.

As an integral member of the wider Ember Korowai Takitini Group Leadership Team and working with a highly skilled board of directors, this role is set up for success.  We will give you the platform to bring your vision and passion to the role, whilst further developing and encouraging your potential through leadership development and training opportunities.

Ember Korowai Takitini is built on the leadership of people with lived the experience of mental illness and addictions, and we welcome applications from people who have used mental health and addiction services.
