Te Toi Mahana believes that everyone deserves a place to call home. As the leading Community Housing Provider (CHP) in Wellington, we provide affordable homes for over 3,000 people across 65 sites. With annual revenues of around $30 million across our owned and leased portfolio, we’re on a mission to grow and strengthen our impact.
We are looking for a commercially astute ‘General Manager, Corporate’ to join our Executive Leadership Team and to play an active strategic leadership role in our organisation, helping to ensure that we’re best-placed to meaningfully shape the future of affordable housing in Wellington.
The role
Reporting to our Chief Executive, this position is key to ensuring Te Toi Mahana operates within a financially sustainable environment while upholding our corporate obligations and commitments to tenants, mana whenua, Wellington City Council, government agencies and the communities in which we work.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Strategic financial leadership, funding and risk management
- Overseeing the corporate services function including Finance, Risk, HSW, HR and IT
- Providing governance-level reporting and advice
- Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Streamlining and creating best practice frameworks
About you
We’re looking for a confident, values-driven leader who can balance strong commercial acumen with a commitment to social impact.
You’ll bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, or similar
- CAANZ membership and proven experience in strategic financial management
- Executive leadership experience in a complex organisation
- Knowledge of the for-purpose or affordable housing sector (ideal but not essential)
- Experience managing corporate services functions (HR, IT, legal, risk, procurement)
- Strong relationship-building skills, including the commitment to Te Tiriti and a desire to partner with Mana Whenua and Māori
- The ability to lead through change and drive a high-performance culture
