Ministerial Services provides critical support to the Executive Government, including the Office of the Prime Minister. From ICT services to transport, press and private secretaries to national events, this function is mission-critical to the effective day-to-day functioning of the Government of the Day.

You will work closely with Ministerial Offices, as well as partner agencies across the Parliamentary Precinct, and lead a team of around 450 kaimahi based nationwide. As a significant employer on the Parliamentary precinct, mature experience of being a good employer and the ability to promote a positive workplace culture is vital.

Working across central government, you will be the host manager to staff seconded from ministries, as well as leading core operational and advisory teams.  

This role requires you to be an expert communicator, negotiator, build enduring relationships and to embody the ethos of Public Service neutrality. You will enjoy thinking on your feet, using your superb strategic judgment and nous. A high degree of intellect, resilience, adaptability, and conscientiousness is required; you will thrive in leading through ambiguity and be adept at the art of free and frank advice. Discretion is a must. As a leader you are known for creating strong teams, positive and engaged cultures, and are a champion for diversity and inclusion. Further, a good working knowledge of how corporate support services are best mobilised to support performance is essential.

We will be looking for a background as a GM or Director within a central government agency where you have overseen a sizeable team and demonstrated your ability to follow through. Gaining and maintaining a Top Secret clearance is a requirement of the role.
