This is a rare opportunity to join one of Aotearoa’s most loved charitable providers.  Whānau Āwhina Plunket is on a transformative journey and we are seeking an exceptional HR leader to take on this critical role.  

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is the largest service in Aotearoa supporting the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau.  We recognise the need for health and community service providers to work better with iwi and whānau Māori to ensure services meet their needs and to support healthy tamariki, confident whānau and connected communities.  We are an organisation committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, being a better Treaty partner and our bi cultural beginnings.   

This is a newly created GM role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive.  You will oversee our People & Culture, HR Shared Services and Comms & Engagement functions to drive organisational capability and leadership across the organisation.  You will ensure that HR practices, leadership and communications across the organisation are strong, so that our people feel valued and well informed.  As part of our ELT, you will be committed to our pro-equity journey, and to a workplace that embraces diversity, inclusion, accountability for performance, and that fosters excellent stakeholder relationships.  

Ensuring the organisation is well positioned to deliver on its strategic plan, you will be responsible for building a high performing team across strategic and operational HR, including learning and development, employment relations, as well as internal and external communications.  As a senior leader within a pro-equity organisation, you will also provide support to our people, clients and stakeholders as we strive to achieve our Māori health and equity goals.

You will come to us with a track record in strategic HR leadership, ideally in a large delivery focused organisation where pro-equity has been a focus.  Your expertise in all areas of HR, ideally including experience within unionised environments, will have prepared you for this challenge.  You thrive on culture change and know how to support and enable leaders across an organisation.  At your core, you have an unequivocal commitment to respecting the rights and supporting those in need, particularly Māori and Pacific peoples.

Your style is energetic and results oriented.  You are naturally collaborative and able to motivate, influence, and can hold leaders to account.  Your commitment to the Whānau Āwhina Plunket kaupapa and to our equity journey will be fundamental to your success in the role.

This is a Wellington based position however consideration may be given to exceptional candidates who are based elsewhere.
