We are New Zealand’s largest and most diverse network of healthcare professionals, with a local and personal approach to delivering world leading health services. Our network includes more than 170 practices across the wider Auckland region and has more than 800,000 enrolled patients, within which is the largest Māori enrolled population in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and the largest Pacific and Asian enrolled populations in the country. Bringing together our size, our reach and our deep engagement with Auckland’s diverse communities means that we are uniquely placed to be innovative in addressing health inequities. Projects such as increasing our Māori and Pasifika workforce, supporting our unenrolled population and health promotion have already seen promising results.
We are also one of the largest providers of mental wellness and psychological support services and have successfully piloted some of the most game-changing methods in mental health support in the country. We have been working with partner organisations over the past few years to develop and design services that support people to enhance and maintain their wellbeing, health and ability to self-manage, and to foster the pathway of knowledge to strength, independence and growth for future generations – Hapaitia to ara tika pumau ai te rangatiritanga mo nga uri whakatipu.

We are seeking a Head of Equity who can support our CEO and organisation in the achievement of our equity vision. You will be a key member of the executive leadership team and lead a group of innovative passionate experts. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders including Tāmaki Makaurau mana whenua, mataawaka, communities and government; challenging established practices and leading initiatives that can deliver meaningful change in health outcomes. Ensuring Te Tiriti alignment and a pro-equity focus in our overall strategy and policies, working closely with our member practices and challenging the status quo, you will be determined to see results.
Your background will show your experience with diverse communities, your commitment to pro-equity, and your ability to uphold the mana of te reo Māori me ona tikanga. You will have held senior leadership roles in health, social services, education or another community-oriented field. You will be known for getting things done, for genuinely collaborating with others, for your innovation and for your integrity. A strategic thinker, you will be inspired by, and inspire others with, the opportunity for change this role presents.
