Oxfam Aotearoa is part of a worldwide development organisation that mobilises the power of people against injustice. We are committed to Oxfam’s founding principles of challenging the systems that drive the inequalities pushing people into poverty and injustice, while supporting people to prepare and respond when disaster strikes. Oxfam Aotearoa is inclusive, secular, grounded in research, community driven, innovative and values based.
We are seeking a new Kaiwhakahaere to lead Oxfam Aotearoa into the future. You will be a key leader for international development here and across the Pacific, and will champion Te Pae Tawhiti – our 2030 vision and strategy. Reporting to the Board and leading a highly engaged and professional team, you will have overall responsibility for the organisation. At Oxfam Aotearoa we live our values every day – Maia, Tika and Manaaki, and we are committed to a journey of understanding more about Te Ao Māori.
As our Executive Director you will have a background in the NGO sector ideally with experience in international development. An experienced senior leader you bring a depth of both strategic and operational ability, as well as significant relationship management experience. You are a skilled media spokesperson, and ideally have experience in advocacy and fundraising. Oxfam Aotearoa is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and so experience working with iwi/Māori as well as with Pasifika is highly desirable. Most importantly, you will feel a deep connection to our kaupapa and to our values.
