Kia rere arorangi te kāhu pōkere ki ngā taumata tiketike
We are Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, one of the hapū from the wider Ngāti Whātua iwi. Located in and around the Tāmaki isthmus, we hold firm to our mana Motuhake, history, culture and heritage. Every single member of our hapū can trace their whakapapa to our shared ancestor Tuperiri. Today, collective affairs of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei are looked after by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust and subsidiaries Whai Māia and Whai Rawa, with approximately 7000 registered hapū members.
The Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust is seeking to appoint a new Whānau Director to the Whai Rawa Ltd board. Whai Rawa is our commercial arm, protecting and growing our assets which are valued at close to $1.5b. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to your hapū, and at the same time gain experience and networks as a Director.
To serve as a Whānau Director, you must be a registered member of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei who is not employed by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Group. You will be committed to kaupapa Māori governance as well as our mātāpono and our aspirations. You will also bring credible leadership and management experience, and ideally have governance experience and strong commercial acumen. Critical reasoning, strategic thinking and the ability to work as part of a high performing, astute team is essential.
Meetings are one a day a month, and we estimate the workload is approximately 2-3 days a month. This is a paid position and is for an open term.
