THINK Hauora is a charitable trust and Primary Health Organisation (PHO) contracted by Health New Zealand, delivering primary health care services across the MidCentral region, including Palmerston North, Horowhenua, Ōtaki, Manawatū and Tararua. We serve a diverse community, with a strong and ongoing commitment to reducing health disparities and improving outcomes within our region.
Genuine partnership with iwi and our wider provider network underpins everything we do. THINK Hauora employs approximately 80 people across multiple sites, more than 70% of whom work in clinical roles, and our Alliance structure extends governance in partnership with Health New Zealand to support whole-of-sector collaboration and strategic development.
The organisation has navigated significant change over the past 18 months with a strategic refresh under way and the board is actively resetting its culture and governance foundations. As such, the organisation is well positioned to move forward, focused on continuing its strong financial stewardship and risk oversight as it moves into this next phase.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The FARC (Finance, Audit and Risk Committee) Chair provides financial and risk governance leadership for THINK Hauora and will involve a dual role of chairing the Committee and joining the Board as a Trustee. This is an opportunity to bring deep financial expertise to a Board that values pragmatism alongside quality and excellence.
FARC meets approximately eight to nine times a year in Palmerston North, with the FARC Chair also attending our main Board meetings. The overall time commitment is approximately two days per month.
Ko wai koe | About you
Ideally, you’ll be a qualified Chartered Accountant with exceptional finance expertise, coupled with an ability to read and interpret financial information effectively at a governance level rather than a purely technical perspective. Prior experience chairing or serving on a Finance, Audit and Risk Committee is preferable.
As an exceptional communicator and facilitator, you will bring a genuine commitment to THINK Hauora’s kaupapa and values, along with the time and energy to give this role what it requires.
