Mō mātou | About Us

Ako Mātātupu: Teach First NZ is an innovative, sector leading, not-for-profit equity initiative.  Our purpose is Growing Leaders for Change.  We tackle education inequality by developing talented individuals into highly effective teachers and inspirational leaders in all fields, and making disruptive and constructive changes to entrenched teaching practice in schools.  As a registered PTE, we deliver our flagship Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching and a Master of Community Action and Social Impact.  Our thought leadership work raises the profile of education inequality and seeks to address it from all angles, contributing to collective solutions and raising the professional status of teaching.  Founded in 2011, we are funded through both the Ministry of Education and philanthropic organisations.
