Join Our Board and Make a Difference in Pacific Communities!

  • Vacancy for one Samoan and one Tongan Trustee to join our board
  • Innovative primary health care and social wellbeing provider
  • Seeking candidates with relevant health/social services expertise

Are you passionate about improving the health and social wellbeing of Pacific communities?

The Fono, an innovative primary health care and social wellbeing provider deeply rooted in Pacific cultures and values, is seeking two exceptional individuals to join our board of trustees. With over four decades of experience, The Fono has been dedicated to providing integrated, whānau centred services including medical, dental, wellbeing and whānau support services. With locations across the wider Auckland region, we are known for our whole person approach, the quality of our services, and our commitment to innovation. Our motto is “Caring is our culture”.

Following a refreshment of our constitution, we are now looking to appoint two trustees who will play a vital role in guiding our organisation to new heights. One trustee must be of Samoan ethnicity, the other must be of Tongan ethnicity. We are looking for candidates with the following qualities:

  • Governance experience, ideally alongside leadership capability
  • A deep connection and understanding of our Pasifika communities, culture and values
  • The ability to engage in talanoa that is robust, constructive and builds consensus
  • An appetite for innovation, breaking barriers and advocacy for our people
  • Clinical experience (in at least one appointment) ideally in primary care or the public health system
  • An understanding of social services and wellbeing services (in at least one appointment)

As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of The Fono and contribute to the betterment of Pacific communities. Board meetings are held monthly, and there may be additional subcommittee involvement. All trustees must have their primary residence within the Auckland Council boundary. The initial appointment is for 3 years, and this is a paid trusteeship.

If you are ready to make a difference and have a positive impact on the lives of Pacific communities, we invite you to apply. Please send your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience, qualifications and why you are interested in joining our board to apply@amytea.co.nz

Applications are open until Sunday 28th April 2024.
